Must see places in the East Kazakhstan are the Altai Mountains, West Altai State Nature Reserve, Lake Yazevoye and Rakhmanovsky Klyuchi.
Beautiful nature, taiga, mountain lakes and fresh air make the atmosphere unique and impressive.
Here you can comfortably relax and be a wild free rider from late June to late September and in winter. Logistics is really great here as roads and settlements are well-established so that you can travel on an unprepared all-wheel car.
Kolsay Lake, Charyn Canyon, Asy Plateau
Mountains, glaciers, coniferous forests, lakes, steppes, canyons, deserts and rivers available all year round will definitely impress you.
Your travel will be comfortable as Almaty region has the best infrastructure in Kazakhstan. You can purchase excursions or go by car.

Borovoye, Bayanaul and Karkaralinsk (with the latter believed to be the best) are the most popular places to visit in Saryarka which is famous with its ancient bizarrely shaped mountains covered with coniferous trees. You’ll never forget breathtaking sunset view. There you can find shore resorts, hotels, and private guesthouses.
Nature lovers can relax in a quiet wild forest or on mountain tops, enjoying the view while lying in their sleeping bags and tents. Surprisingly, you can achieve the place by public transport.
Mangystau, Ustyurt plateau, Boszhira, Torish field of globular concretions, Tuzbair Sor stock
Mangystau is suitable for Martian landscapes fans aware of the planet’s severe grace and preferring extremely wild ecotourism.
The Caspian, the Ustyurt plateau, the Boszhira, Torish field of globular concretions and Tuzbair Sor stock are must visit destinations.
You’d better travel by at least two cars in case of breakage. Tourists ought to have extra fuel and water supplies. The season starts in early May, summer is boiling hot and you can enjoy warm sunny days till the late October.
Karatau Mountains, Aksu River Canyon, Kelinshektau Mountains, Aksu-Zhabagly Nature Reserve
Southern mountains are especially unique and colorful. The Karatau Mountains resemble the hills of Patagonia, whereas the canyon of the Aksu River may remind you North American landscapes. The southern warm climate extends the travel season from April to late October. There you can travel by car, but there aren’t spots for comfortable lodging.
The canyon of the Aksu River, the Kelinshiktau Mountains, the Aksu-Zhabagly Reserve, the Karatau Mountains are definitely must see places.
The trip is better to be made in late April as it’s when you can witness an incredible beauty of the steppe tulips (Greig tulips as well) blossoming in the Aksu-Zhabagly reserve.
